Obituary lovingly written by her family.
On Tuesday, June 27, 2023, Clara G. Halvax, loving wife and mother of four children passed away at the age of 79 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, June 30th, 2023, at Dunn Family Funeral Home, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL. 60543 at 7 o'clock p.m.
Clara was born in Budapest, Hungary to Miklos and Clara Kovacs on July 15, 1943. She immigrated with her family to the United States during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. She attended Joliet Central High School and graduated in 1961. She was united in matrimony to Elemer Adolf Halvax on July 1, 1961. She worked in various positions for over 20 years and retired from Farmers Insurance Group.
Clara had a passion for gardening and bringing nature indoors. She also had a love for animals and enjoyed any occasion to be with young babies. She was known to be an avid music lover of contemporary and classical music often playing in the background. Loyal, highly intuitive, and extremely committed are some of the best ways to describe her and how she lived her life. Above all, those that knew Clara would say that she was truly authentic and honest. It takes courage to be authentic and do the things you really believe in. She was a true one-of-a-kind, strong fierce woman. She will be missed tremendously by her family and close friends.
Clara is preceded in death by her father Miklos, her mother Clara and brother Nicholas Kovacs.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Elemer A. Halvax of Montgomery; two brothers: Victor (Pam) Kovacs of Joliet and George Kovacs of Chicago and Sister-in-law Katalin Kovacs; one daughter: Andrea (Jeff) Stewart of Oswego; three sons: Anthony (Penny) Halvax of Plainfield, Timothy (Liz) Halvax of Oswego, and Thomas (Lauren) Halvax of South Carolina.
