Charles Dewain Unruh, age 84, of Oswego, IL died Monday, June 28, 2021, at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL.
He was born January 24, 1937, in Greensburg, KS the son of the late Clarence Clifford and Grace Hazel nee Schmidt Unruh.
He was a member of the Lombard Mennonite Church in Lombard, IL. He was raised in the wheat country of Kansas for which he always had fond memories. He had worked for the Santa Fe Railroad from 1968 to 1991 and then at Ensign Corp. in Burr Ridge, IL until his retirement in 2002. He was an avid camper, gardener, woodworker, dog lover, political controversy shows watcher and church coffee attendant/greeter. Above all he loved and cherished his family.
He is survived by a daughter Renae Unruh, two sons Brad (Catherine) Unruh, Jeff (Jacinda) Unruh; six grandchildren Christopher, Conroy and Caitlyn Unruh, Lacey (Andrew) Rush, Alexa, and Ashtynn Unruh; great granddaughter Madison Renae Rush; two sisters, Carol Kirk-Brockmeier, Rachael (Mike) Clark, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Irene L Unruh, whom he had married July 25, 1958 at Emmaus Mennonite Church in Whitewater, KS..
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 10, 2021, from 9:30 until the funeral service at 11:30 AM with Pastors Barb Krebhil-Gehring and Richard Gehring officiating at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL.
Burial will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL.
