Carol Elizabeth Kirk, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2026. Born on July 23, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island, Carol was the cherished daughter of Anthony Gayda and Doris nee Woodmansee Gayda, and her stepmother, Rita.

In 1963, Carol married the love of her life, Raymond Kirk, with whom she shared a beautiful journey until his passing. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, and together they built a family that was central to Carol's life.

Carol enjoyed spending time at the beach, dancing with her husband, and cooking homemade meals for her family. Some of her family's favorites were her special meatballs and potato salad. She also loved riding her horse, Sandy, and shared a special bond with her beloved dog, Holly. Her faith in God was an important part of her life and brought her strength and comfort throughout the years.

Carol's legacy lives on through her daughter, Karen Kirk Ehrhart, who filled her life with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. She was a loving grandmother to Brittney Kirk and Morgan Ehrhart, and her great-grandchildren, Chloe Andre, Isabelle Kirk, and Lily Watgen, were the lights of her life. Her brother, Peter Gayda, sister-in-law Deborah Caron and brother-in-law Robert (Katie) Caron each will always have a special place in their hearts for her. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 28, 2026 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.
