Brian Timothy Rueb, age 64, passed away on October 3, 2024 after a courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Raised in Bellwood, Illinois, Brian graduated from Proviso West High School in 1978 and went on to earn Associate's degrees in both photography and architecture from Triton College. A proud and recently retired union carpenter, Brian dedicated his life to supporting his family through hard work and skilled craftsmanship.

As a tradesman, Brian worked with his hands, creating and building with precision and care. The physical nature of his work was demanding, yet he took pride in it, knowing that every project he completed was a testament to his dedication to his loved ones. His tireless work ethic, forged in long hours and challenging conditions, was a reflection of his unwavering commitment to providing for his family. He built not only with wood and tools, but with love and a sense of purpose, ensuring that his family had a strong foundation to stand on.

Brian had a deep love for nature and wildlife, finding peace in the outdoors. He was an avid photographer who captured the beauty of the natural world, and spent countless hours enjoying outdoor activities such as canoeing, kayaking, and hiking. His adventurous spirit extended to the ice, where he played amateur hockey for much of his early adulthood.

Brian was dedicated to giving back to his community. He volunteered with the Irish Children's Fund, serving as a regional coordinator, coached youth baseball and softball, and held many roles in the Boy Scouts of America, including Scoutmaster, helping guide and mentor young people.

Brian is survived by his three children: Colin, Megan, and Shannon; his daughter-in-law, Julie Rueb (née Gerken); and his beloved grandson, Nathaniel. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Rueb and Jacqueline Rueb (née Peterson); and his sister, Peggy McLennan (née Rueb). He is also survived by his ex-wife, Janet Rueb (née Kendrick); his partner, Laura Bresnik; his sister, Linda DeLisle (née Rueb) and her husband, Henry; and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12 from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm CDT with a memorial service starting at 3:30 pm at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory (1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, Illinois 60543) where friends and family will gather to honor and remember the man who brought light, laughter, and love to so many lives.

A separate Celebration of Life reception will be held at a later date.
