On Sunday August 28th Bradley "Steve" Barrett, Senior Chief Hospital Corpsman (NAC) USN (Ret) passed away from cancer with his family by his side. Steve was born in Bound Brook, New Jersey on October 26th 1947. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Bradley Stephen Barrett Sr. Steve is survived by his loving wife Lyn, son Sean and Regan (McNamee) Barrett of Aurora, his daughter Megan Barrett and her fiancé Brian Small of Plano, and 6 grandchildren who he adored - Ryan , Brennan, Caleb & Daniel Barrett and Chase & Kennedy Small. He is also survived by his mother, Joyce (Gaal) Barrett and 4 siblings - Robert (Jean) Barrett, Robin (Larrie) Miller, Chuck (Carol) Barrett and Christa (Bill) Nick and many nieces and nephews. Steve and his wife Lyn were married November 2, 1968. They have 2 children that they raised in Oswego. Steve served as a Corpsman in Vietnam and Desert Storm and retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer after 23 years of service. Steve was a well decorated war veteran including the Purple Heart. Steve served as Post Commander of the Oswego American Legion Post 675 for many years. He was employed as the Superintendent of the Kendall County Veterans Assistance Commission (VAC) where he fulfilled his passion for helping other veterans. Steve's other passions in life were volunteering, travelling and his grandchildren. Steve would like to make sure that everyone knows that "the pleasure was yours to meet him". Visitation will be at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543 on Saturday, September 3rd from 10:00 am-2:00 pm, with Military Honors following.
