Bonnie Sue Rhoades (Wolf) of Oswego, Illinois, died peacefully at home on Monday, October 30, 2023, at the age of 79.
She was born in Aurora, Illinois to Clifford Wolf and Vernice (Parlow) Wolf.
Bonnie was a graduate of East Aurora High School and in her early years worked as a beautician in Aurora before earning an associate's degree in early childhood education from Waubonsee Community College. She served as a teaching assistant at Bardwell Elementary School for a number of years, and an ESL teacher for Waubonsee. She also served as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer in Kane County then developed and was the first Director of the CASA program in Kendall County.
Bonnie was the loving wife of James W. Rhoades (Jim) for 58 years, and the loving mother of Steve and Jeff. Family was always the most important thing in Bonnie's life. When her sons were growing up, she loved attending Steve's band concerts and vocal performances at the U of I, her son Jeff's high school wrestling matches and baseball games, and spending weekends at their condo in Fox Lake. She loved watching her grandchildren play soccer, baseball and football, and being with them whenever she could, especially at their condo in Myrtle Beach. She also loved her dogs who were members of her family.
In her later years, Bonnie loved to read, garden, and was a successful golfer. She served as a deacon at the Oswego Presbyterian Church and founded a knitting ministry.
Bonnie is survived by her loving husband Jim, sons Steve (Anna) and Jeff (Shelley), and her grandchildren Ian, Nate, Sarah, Caleb, and Edith, her brother Clint Wolf (Sandra), a niece Kristin (Wolf) Kipper (Bob), and a dear cousin, Cindy (Moldovan) Sotiros.
A visitation with the family will be held at 10 am on Friday, November 17 at Oswego Presbyterian Church, 1976 IL-25, Oswego, IL 60543, with a Celebration of Life service following at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Rover Rescue, PO Box 4074, Aurora, IL 60507, and Oswego Presbyterian Church.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY.
