Beverly A.
Bowen
Aug 8, 1941 — Oct 24, 2026
Beverly A. Bowen, 85, of Sheridan, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2026. She was born August 8, 1941 to Raymond and Helen (nee Klaas) Kaufman and was raised in Somonauk, Illinois.
Beverly was united in marriage on November 28, 1959 to Lyell A. Bowen and they spent the next 66 years together on the Bowen farm. They had two children, Mark R. Bowen and James L. Bowen. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and took great pride in the home and life she built. The family spent every summer at their cabin on Leech Lake in Minnesota. Whether at home or in Minnesota, Beverly was a proud homemaker, creating a warm and welcoming home where friends and family could gather, share meals and make life-long memories. She always brought delicious meals to the field during harvest and planting.
Beverly enjoyed puzzles, playing board and card games with her family and tending to her plants. She enjoyed walks in the woods, especially in the fall, to view her favorite colors. Beverly enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels and various wildlife on the farm. She never met an animal she didn't love. She loved being with the horses, giving them treats and brushing them. She had a particular love of animals in need and enjoyed bottle-feeding orphan calves, often bringing them in the house. But above all, her greatest joy in life was her family.
Beverly is survived by her devoted husband, Lyell, her grandchildren Jessica and Mark and her great-grandchildren Averie, Lyell, Rhett and Logan. Additionally, she is survived by her sisters-in-law Irene Kaufman and Joyce Kaufman and many nieces and nephews.
Beverly was preceded in death by her sons Mark R. Bowen and James L. Bowen; her brothers Allen, Gerald and Wayne Kaufman; her sisters Barbara Sherman and Anita Herzog.
Beverly's legacy is one of love, laughter and unwavering dedication to her family. Though her absence leaves an immeasurable void, the memories she created and the love she shared will remain forever in our hearts.
Visitation, services, and interment will be private. Arrangements are by Gabel Dunn Funeral Home. For information, 815-695-5131 or visit her memorial page at www.dunnfamilyfuneralhome.com
