BETTY LOU MOREL April 29, 1930 - January 19, 2020 Betty Lou Morel, 89, of rural Norway passed Sunday, January 19, 2020 at her home. Betty was born April 29, 1930 in Berwyn, IL. to Norman Melvin & Betty Kay (Naylor) Nelson. She was joined in marriage to Eugene D. Morel September 16, 1950 at the Sheridan United Methodist Church. Eugene passed August 7, 1982. In 1952, along with her husband, they started farming and the M & W Construction Co., moving to the farm near Norway in 1966. Betty retired in 1991 after 22 years as a Postal Clerk in Sheridan. She was a member of the Stavanger Lutheran Church & Ladies Aid, a member of the LaSalle County Farm Bureau, a member & volunteer at the Robert W. Rowe Library and Library Book Club & member of the library Unfinished Objects Club where she enjoyed visiting all the ladies while working on their crafts. She loved her family and enjoyed her grandchildren, great grandchildren, her many dear friends, traveling, walking, the outdoors, baking, crocheting, embroidering and reading & watching mysteries. She was a loving & devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She is survived by her daughter, Judith (Dennis Heaser) Morel of Bainbridge Island, WA.; her son, Gary (Vicki) Morel of rural Norway; a grandson, Matthew (Jennifer) Morel of rural Norway; a granddaughter, Anne (Jason) Schneider of Ottawa; three great grandchildren, Megan Morel, Raegan Schneider, Logan Schneider; a sister, Gail Kendrick of Batavia; a niece, Kathy (Kent) Leaman and a nephew, Keith Kendrick. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Eugene. According to Betty's wishes there will be no visitation and a private burial of her cremains will be at the West Serena Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the West Serena Cemetery Assoc. or the donor's choice.
