Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Friend
Betty Karan Jackson, 8/9/1938-11/23/2019, 81 years young.
Betty was born August 9, 1938 in Carrington, ND to parents Herb & Charlotte Broschat., Betty grew up in Cathay, ND with brothers Robert (Verdus) Broschat, James d. (Doris) Broschat and sister Donna Lynn Peterson.
After high school graduation, Betty attended trade school in Minnesota. This brought her to Chicago to work for the Burlington Northern Railroad.
In Chicago, she met her future husband Bob and they were married on April 11, 1959.
Betty and Bob raised 2 sons, Steven (Diane) and Michael "Tony" (Michelle) and mourned twin daughters at birth. They celebrated 5 grandchildren, Elisabeth (Kenneth) Nichols, Allison, Dillon (Jess), Nicholas Gunther & Courtney and one great-grandchild, John. They raised their family in Bolingbrook, Illinois until they semi-retired to Sublet, Illinois, enjoying many years at Woodhaven Lakes.
Upon retirement in 1995, they moved to Palm Gardens in Mesa, Arizona to be near Betty's mother Charlotte. They traveled back to Illinois every summer to visit their family and friends. Betty and Bob enjoyed riding their bikes, taking walks and the bowling league. Betty also enjoyed sewing, crafting and playing her organ.
Betty lost Bob in 2013 after 53 years of marriage and continued living in Arizona until a large rare meningioma tumor was discovered in November 2016. After surgery to remove the tumor, Betty moved to live with her son Steve in Yorkville, IL.
While keeping the dogs inline at Steve's home, she built puzzles while watching the Hallmark channel and attended Community Christian Church in Montgomery.
Upon further tests, Betty's tumor returned more aggressive and she passed in her sleep in the early morning of November 23, 2019.
We will be celebrating Betty's life in Illinois on Saturday, January 11th, 2020 at noon. Services will be at Community Christian Church, 129 Commercial Drive, Yorkville, Il.
