Barry Floyd Peters, age 74, of Yorkville, IL, formerly of Oswego, died Friday, August 4, 2017 at Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL He was born March 26, 1943 in Louisville, KY, the son of the late Floyd Preston and Freda nee Meyer Peters. Barry was the Vice President of the former Peters Van and Storage Company in Aurora, IL. He was a member of St Anne Catholic Church in Oswego, IL, Aurora Masonic Lodge # 254 of Oswego, IL, Barry enjoyed shooting sports, He was a member of the NRA, the ISRA and the IDPA. He was a member of Aurora Sportsmen's Club and was on the Board of Directors of the Howell Shooting Club. Barry was active in his church as a CCD teacher and working the RCIA program. In his youth, he participated in many sports including wrestling, track, and most importantly football. He played on the varsity football team at Joliet Township High School and went on to play for the University of Wisconsin football team in Madison, WI. With his children, Barry liked to watch the Oswego Panther Football games, he participated in scouting with Cub Scout Pack 380 and was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 80. He was a coach for Sugar-n-Spice Softball and Oswego Youth Tackle Football. He loved golfing, bowling, the Wisconsin Badgers and his Great Dane, Bucky. Survivors include his wife Julie Anne nee Hubanks-Bump, his brother Kenton (Susan) Peters of Madison, WI, and his children Kristen Ann (Steven Doenges) Peters of Montgomery, IL, Janelle Marie (Steve) Peters Pitula of Oswego,, Joseph Barry (Sara) Peters of Yorkville, Douglas Preston Peters of Oswego, Catherine Elise (Shane) Peters Bishir of Aurora, Michael Morgan (Shannon) Peters of Chicago. Barry had 3 grandchildren, Connor Joseph Peters, Evan Thomas Peters, and Eleanora Jane Bishir. Barry was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Farnsley (Jean), and his brother Thomas (Jan). A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St Anne Catholic Church 551 Boulder Hill Pass Oswego, IL, followed by a luncheon. Inurnment will be at the Oswego Township Cemetery,Main Street, Oswego IL.
