Barbara M. Smith, 73, of Newark, IL, passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Rush-Copley Medical Center in Aurora, IL. Barbara was born May 23, 1942, in Aurora, IL to John & Gladys (McCrimmon)Hahr. She is survived by her husband of close to 50 years Richard Smith of Newark, IL, children Scott (Sue) Smith of Millington, IL, Brooke (Keith) Pinney of Ottawa, IL, Bethany (Jim) Garbelman of Ottawa, IL, grandchildren Lauren Smith, Rebekah Pinney, Zechariah Pinney, Katlyn Smith, Samuel Pinney, Chance Ness, Nathanael Pinney, Jacob Pinney, sisters Hattie Sue Warren, Sally Podschweit, brothers Dennis, Jack and Donald Hahr, and many in-laws and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, step-father Kenneth Lee, a sister Kathy Carlson, a brother Chuck Hahr and a brother-in-law Kevin Warren. Pallbears will be Jim Garbelman, Keith Pinney, Zech Pinney, Charles Nelson, Johnny Ray Porter and Tom Danilek. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at GABEL-DUNN FUNERAL HOME 102 S. Johnson St., Newark, IL.
