Barbara was a 1959 graduate of Thornton Township High School in Harvey, Illinois. She worked as a file clerk early in life and later as a temporary employee for Stivers.

For most of her life she was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was well known for her many years of service in the church nursery.

While living in Montgomery, Illinois, she was highly active at the Oswego Senior Center and with the Oswego Senior Singers. She was known for delivering their newsletter to local banks and in earlier years, volunteering to bring books to residents of Tillers Nursing Home. She also volunteered at her children's school when they were young.

An avid reader, she also expressed her love for music by playing the trombone and singing. She was a passionate Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed television shows like "Highway to Heaven" and "Touched by an Angel".

After moving to Washington state, she continued her social activities, participating in movie nights and Bible study with neighbors. She was a regular at the Richland Public Library, where she visited Gus the therapy dog. She enjoyed "sneaking out" for chocolate milkshakes with her son-in-law, Drew.

Her children have fond memories of her pulling them in the snow down the street on a toboggan, reading with them, and singing Primary songs and hymns. After her husband passed, she joined a grief support group and cherished the friendships she made there. She is remembered for her generosity, outgoing nature and her pride in her family. She would talk to anyone and loved attending the activities of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be especially remembered for her faith in, and love of her Savior, Jesus Christ.
