Barbara J Colwell, age 84, of Oswego, IL died Sunday, February 26, 2023 at Bickford of Aurora, IL.

She was born December 19, 1938 in Lake Forest, IL the daughter of the late Charles and Jean nee VanderVennet VanParys.

She loved being a grandmother and spending time with the grandkids and her family.

Barbara was a registered nurse working at hospitals in the area and prior to her retirement in 2009 at The Tillers in Oswego, IL, where she had worked for 25 years. She was a very active member of St Anne's Church in Oswego, IL where she participated in several ministries and worked within the church office.

Barbara is survived by her three daughters Debbie (Dave) Edman of St Paul, MN, Diane (Harold) Snyder of Montgomery, IL, Mary (Ron) LaDew of Montgomery, IL, two sons Tom (Sheryl) Colwell of Montgomery, IL, Joe Colwell of Yorkville, IL, thirteen grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, sister Kathy VanHeirseele, brother Robert (Elisabeth) VanParys, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband James Colwell, sister Mary Varriale, and infant brother Jimmy VanParys.

Visitation will take place on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with a rosary recited at 7:30 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL.

Interment will take place at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Aurora, IL.
