Alimae Persons, born December 23, 1934, went to be with her Lord on March 17, 2025. She was born to Virla (Elkins) Aiken and Johnnie Aiken in Birch Tree, MO. She attended and graduated from the University of Southern Illinois. Later, she completed post-graduate work and was awarded a Master of Education degree from National-Louis University.

While in college she met and married Richard Persons on June 22, 1963. They moved to Oswego in 1966. Alimae enjoyed spending time with her husband and three children and loved a fun family project and field trips with the kids that occurred on a regular basis. She was an English teacher within the Oswego School District for over 25 years. She enjoyed attending the Illinois Retired Teachers Association meetings and made many lifelong friends. She had a strong Christan faith and loved helping people. Alimae's love for others extended well beyond her family.

She is survived by three children and their families as follows: Alisa Persons and son Evan Peterson of Tallahassee, FL; Allen Persons (Amy) and children Ashley (Jacob) Matsen and their children Gavin and Jonas of Colorado Springs, CO and Alex Persons (Vivian) and children Olivia and Gavin of Alhambra, CO; Michael Persons (Akemi) of Montgomery, IL and children Katrina of Japan.

She is predeceased by her husband Richard, parents, Johnnie and Virla Aiken, brother Myron Aiken, son-in-law Erik Peterson, and grandson Justin Persons.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 21,2025 at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, IL. Burial will follow at Pearce Cemetery in Oswego.
