Adam Michael Wormley, Yorkville, loved all people and made everyone he met feel very special. He never forgot a person's voice or name and followed his exuberant greetings with "How are you?"

Adam was born prematurely July 1, 1980, in Aurora. He was blind, had cerebral palsy with severe physical limitations, and lived his 45 years in a wheelchair. Still, he was always happy. His wonderful smile, hearty laughter, and generous spirit warmed this part of the world.

His loving family was with him when he died June 2, 2026, at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Downers Grove.

His parents, Richard Budd and Susan (Pollock) Wormley, vowed to make his life as normal as possible and they succeeded. He went to Sunday School and was confirmed at Oswego Presbyterian Church. He attended and graduated from Hope Wall School in Aurora.

When the family went on vacation, Adam went, too. He delighted in trips to Disney World, Lake Wisconsin, Indian Rocks Beach, FL, Lake Okoboji, IA, and on a Caribbean cruise. When the family gathered to eat, he ate, too. Adam loved to eat. His favorite foods were burgers, pizza, spaghetti and tacos, all with a lemonade chaser.

In his 20s, Adam began a new chapter in his life when he moved to Sunset House - an Association for Individual Development (AID) home in Yorkville. The staff and fellow residents became his second family. Living at Sunset House opened the opportunity for Adam to "work" at AID's Workshop in Yorkville. In Adam fashion, he stole hearts and developed friendships.

Adam was blessed with loving, caring parents. He was his dad's sidekick for years. Where Budd went in Oswego and Kendall County, Adam went, greeting people and engaging them in conversation. Dad and son shared a love of big engines, farm equipment, country western music, and enjoying family gatherings and traditions. Adam loved going places with his dad and riding in whatever conveyance Budd was driving - van, tractor, boat, lawnmower or heavy equipment. Sadly, Budd died in 2019.

Adam's mother stepped right up. Susan was his Tiger Mom - advocating for Adam as his health declined. She made the hard decisions and visited him daily. Her unconditional love, care and presence were well known and respected by doctors, nurses, and caregivers.

Adam always had a parent. He was never alone. Even as he died, his mother was with him, and his dad was waiting for him.

Adam is survived by his mother of Oswego; siblings Sara Wormley, Verona, WI., Seth (Michelle) Wormley, Millbrook, and Kendall (Ryne) Reder, Yorkville; a nephew and a niece, Emmett and Josephine Reder; an uncle Jim (Cheryl) Wormley, Lake Geneva, WI; an aunt Jean Rothfusz, West Des Moines, IA; and a host of cousins, loved ones and friends.

He loved being with family and was exceptionally proud to be in the wedding parties of Kendall and Ryne and Seth and Michelle, to celebrate births and birthdays of his niece and nephew, and to gather with extended family for holiday dinners.

In addition to his father, Adam was preceded in death by his infant twin brother, Alex James Wormley; infant brother Luke Sterling Wormley; maternal grandparents, James and Kay Pollock; paternal grandparents Myron and Frances Wormley; and an uncle Paul Rothfusz.

The memorial gathering will be from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Dunn Family Funeral Home, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego. The celebration of his life and service of worship will follow with The Rev. Betty Weidert officiating. The family will inurn Adam's ashes with his twin brother and next to his infant brother at Wheatland Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Plainfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AID, 309 New Indian Trail Court, Aurora, IL 60506, or online at AIDcares.org. For information: 630-554-3888 or www.dunnfamilyfuneralhome.com
